Michael Manley has been a REALTOR since 1981, a sales representative until 1996 and an owner manager since.
Michael has been a director of TREB (Toronto Real Estate Board) since 2002; he has been chair of the MLS committee, Chair of the Emerging Technology and Business Practice task force, Chair of the Online Voting task force and chair of the Education committee along with being a member of various other committees.
Michael also spent 2 years as a director and 1 year as vice chair of the Canadian Real Estate Association’s (CREA’s) MLS and Technology Council (MTC) which built and runs MLS.ca.
Michael has also participated in CREA’s Strategic Planning Sessions, attended National Association of Realtors (NAR) conferences many times, along with at least 2 Inman Technology conferences. Thanks to TREB, CREA and NAR, Michael has gained a deep understanding of real estate technology and the real estate business in general.
Michael’s Real Estate Council’s (RECO) classification is “real estate sales representative”. but owns, operates and manages Prudential Properties Plus, a brokerage which employs more than 10 brokers and 70 sales representatives. His stated objective is to develop and use technology to increase the independent agent’s productivity.
Michael believes that independent agent’s are the backbone of the real estate industry. To Michael independent agents are those agents that do not have financial or contractual obligations to another agent, such as a buyer agent being under contract to a Listing agent. Michael also believes that the best agents are those who deal with both buyers and sellers, giving those agents a superior all around view of the Real Estate market and enabling them to give consumers their best overall Real Estate outcome.
Michael also believes that the Real Estate Industry through the selective use of technology favours agents with listings, the more listings the more the favoritism. Buyer oriented agents are not being treated fairly and Michael believes that for the long term success of the industry buyer agents need to be recognized as equal partners in the operation and success of TREB’s Real Estate Market Place.
Michael has zeroed in on what he considers to be three key areas of concern that he passionately believes have to change to help buyer agency and buyer agents gain their proper place within our TREB Real Estate Market Place.
If you believe that strong Independent Real Estate Agents are important, vote for Michael Manley. Give him a mandate to demand change.
